Vanitas (Processing): Winter of 2025
Historically paintings were not simply aesthetic demonstrations of an artist's skill. They served as deep philosophical meditations and moral warnings.
They encouraged viewers to detach themselves from material wealth and instead focus their attention on spiritual and moral values. They are closely related to the memento mori tradition. In Vanitas, I use dead flowers to paint with; a meditation for what is to come.
